More Ethnic Groups are Seeking Plastic Surgery

In the early to mid 80s, it was estimated that less than five percent of plastic surgery patients belonged to ethnic groups. By 1990, that number had swelled to 20 percent according to the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. Today, more and more members of ethnic groups are turning to cosmetic surgery to enhance their natural beauty and restore a youthful glow.

Why has plastic surgery grown so much among ethnic patients? Part of the trend lies in improved surgical techniques and increased media exposure. While plastic surgery was once consider a taboo by both Caucasians and ethnic minorities, cosmetic work is now widely accepted by all groups and all ages.

More people today are aware of the potential benefits of plastic surgery as well as the many different procedures currently available. Some of the most popular procedures include breast augmentation, body lifts and nose surgeries. However, doctors also note that different ethnic groups have differing ideas about what is considered beautiful. While European patients prefer a more sculpted appearance, Asian patients typically strive for a much softer look.

Enhancing Beauty While Retaining Ethnic Identity

As more people from minority groups begin to seek plastic surgery, the need to enhance beauty while maintaining ethnic identity becomes increasingly important. In a recent article in the New York Times, doctors discussed the fact that different ethnic groups hold different standards of beauty. While traditional plastic surgery techniques are based on Caucasian ideals, doctors must modify their traditional operations to work with the beauty standards of Hispanic, Asian and African-American clients.

Tips When Seeking Plastic Surgery

If you belong to an ethnic group, it is important to find a plastic surgeon attuned to your individual needs and goals. As you are looking for a doctor, go prepared with a list of questions in order to help determine who the best choice for your surgery is. Discuss your concerns and talk specifically about what you hope to achieve with cosmetic surgery.

Another great idea is to ask your doctor about their prior experience working with patients from ethnic groups. If possible, ask your doctor to show you ‘before-and-after’ pictures of past patients. This is a great way to see what the doctor is capable of. You may also want to bring pictures that demonstrate the look you hope to achieve, as well as pictures of things you would like to avoid.

You may want to consider seeing a plastic surgeon that has specific experience working with people of different ethnic groups. These surgeons typically have a better understanding of your unique needs, as well as experience creating the looking you are striving for. Most importantly, avoid surgeons who try to convince you to “Westernize” your look. The goal of plastic surgery should be to enhance your natural beauty, while still preserving your ethnic identity.

If you are quiet when third world savages are being allowed into our country don’t now complain when savagery occurs. This is just the start.

Kudos To Muhammad A Jawad for his invaluable contribution as plastic surgeon. What hes done for Katie Holmes is phenomenal.
May no person have to go through such an ordeal as being defaced by acid.

1, I stand by my first statement!
2, Don’t patronise me and sound like you are justified!
3, again the same principle applies as above, pls show me where she was “an angel”..a complete control freak trying to stop you doing what you want and the answer?….spend a night at a Hotel with him!! I’m sorry but she didn’t land any TV role for being completely stupid so don’t tell me she didn’t see the signs of a nut job looming eh?
4, I don’t have to convince you of nothing! you have your view too!

I don’t see how I’m being patronising, I apologise if I have though.

But I didn’t say she was an angel, you are the one saying other people are but I don’t have to prove that she didn’t do anything wrong, it is up to people that believe she did do something wrong to prove that she did, in the UK we go by the philosophy of “innocent until proven guilty”.

Besides, there still isn’t any justification for that, I honestly can’t think of any, can you?

Your past photos show how physically beautiful you were, but your positive attitude and dignity shows everyone that you are a MUCH more beautiful woman today.

As soon as the people responsible are released from prison I hope someone has the knoledge and ability to execute them, they are worthless people and should be delt with accordingly.

  7. iamnotapie says:

She may have been irresponsible in adding him to Facebook, but that is no justification for that.

Before the event she could have hidden it, I’m not sure if you’re aware of the rape erport/conviction rates in Britain, but they are shocking

You say she is no angel, could you please tell me what she did and how you know she did it?

As it stands, you haven’t convinced me that he was “pushed over the edge” as you claim, and you didn’t even meet my claim that it was premeditated.

@MrMorgansgoat An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.

I don’t condone what happened to this girl in anyway shape or form. and yes the B******* deserve to hang! but you simply don’t add strangers on FB and date them…hello?….just meeting up with one is a big no no, My little sis is in the media eye and is considered very attractive (like me) lol. So I know what freaks are out there and what advice the authorities and personal security firms give her and encouraging strangers that persist is a major mistake and considered “foolhardy”.
